Schedule
August 21 will be our first module lab.Labs are every other Friday at 9:30am except on scheduled breaks/holidays. A schedule will be sent out to all members.
Information
Most HS labs will go for a full 2 hours, unless otherwise stated by facilitating teacher, but Jr. classes often end at 11:00, so it is best to be on campus at 11:00 for those students. Teachers and directors will not leave the class until you arrive and all students are accounted for. Please respect your colleagues and be on time for your students.
There are nearby coffee shops, and a central area in our pod classrooms, where you can quietly plan, but if you have small children we recommend the playground for the sake of maintaining a focused environment in the classroom and allowing little ones to expend energy needed. There is no oversight at this time for younger children.
At this time we have full time teachers for HS Chemistry and Physics.
Yes, for classes that do not have a full time teacher, parents will commit to teach 2-3 modules for the year pending number of families per class. No more than 3 per family teaching days will be assigned, despite the number of students enrolled.
You must contact your class coordinator as soon as possible or find a replacement ahead of time. We know emergencies can happen, but we can not leave children unattended, so coordinators must be kept in the loop at all times. It is better to call your class coordinator, not text or email, if the cancelation must be made on the day of lab. Contact information will be provided. Missed labs can and should be rescheduled if all parties are able to accommodate. It is crucial to understand the effect a last minute cancelation will make on all families involved and that we all do our best to communicate well and in a timely manner.
Each class will be assigned a class coordinator. It will be the responsibility of the parent teacher to inform the coordinator of any lab materials needed so that we might check our current EVHSC supply boxes. This must be done a week ahead of time in order to accommodate in a timely manner. Any consumable items purchased by the parent for the class must have a receipt in order to be reimbursed. Lab kits for HS Apologia experiments can be ordered online through Amazon and must be ordered by individual student/ families, unless a class coordinator collaborates with corresponding class families for another plan to purchase these kits together. Some students prefer to share, others want their own.
